Maybe even a supercycle. But blink and you miss the hard truth: the streak is real, and the story being sold around it is probably wrong in every dimension that matters. I have seen this move before. The issuer—BlackRock, Fidelity, Bitwise, Grayscale—creates a share class that is backed by actual Bitcoin held in custody. The custodians are, in almost all cases, centralized institutions. Coinbase has become the default vault for billions of dollars worth of assets. The authorized participants execute the creation and redemption cycle. The index provider—usually relying on CF Benchmarks / CME reference rates—supplies the pricing. This is not a tech stack. This is a plumbing junction. Fidelity's FBTC charges roughly 0.25%, with a tiered fee that kicks in after the first $10 billion. Bitwise charges 0.20%.
